HWB proves switched on with the sale of kmb productions

The corporate finance team at Southampton-based HWB acted as lead advisers on the sale of Eastleigh-based kmb productions to the Talent Group plc for an undisclosed sum.

An independent producer, kmb productions will re-brand as Talent South and sit alongside the group’s other subsidiary, Talent Television, producer of the BBC’s Test the Nation and ITV1’s Everybody Dance Now!

HWB director Richard Hurst said: “The deal completed in line with the timeframe that was set and we are delighted to have helped the shareholders achieve their goal.

“Established in March 2005, kmb has been behind a range of documentary series, including: Vicars’ Wives for ITV1, By Royal Appointment for ITV London and Meridian and The Flying Winemakers for UKTV, as well a number of shows for ITV Meridian, including Cathedral Cities, Pets and their Vets, A Taste of the South and Coming up Roses. The company will continue to specialise in factual, lifestyle and daytime programming throughout the region.”

kmb productions is headed by former ITV series producer, Kate Beal, who will continue to lead the re-branded Talent South from Wessex House in Eastleigh, reporting to Talent Group’s managing director Tony Humphreys.

Kate Beal said: “HWB did a fantastic job in helping us through the acquisition process. It was made far easier by working with Richard, who gave us clear, concise interpretations and advice that enabled us to make informed opinions and judgement. His expertise made what was, at first, a very baffling process, far simpler and more accessible.

“We are thrilled to be joining the Talent Group and feel it is a partnership that will achieve great results in the future. Our core values of creativity and excellence match Talent’s perfectly. The benefits of joining are clear for both the broadcasters and individuals who work with the company now and will do in the future.”

Richard Hurst continued: “We are delighted to see a dynamic, regional young company grow. This deal is part of Talent’s ongoing plan to expand its existing business through strategic deals. kmb is full of ideas and Talent’s current programming line-up and skillset will allow it to develop further.”

HWB has a 60-strong team and is one of the largest independent practices in the region, working primarily with clients in the SME sector with specialist sectors including construction, healthcare, hotel and leisure and professional services.
