Sleep in rates of pay

Case law is once again adding to reporting issues for charities as the recent sleep-in case with Mencap may be appealed to the Supreme Court.

As employers you have to comply with what is legally required, given the current law, but in your year-end accounts you have to consider the law up to the date of signing your accounts post year end.

The Voluntary Organisation Disability Group (VODG) has suggested new legislation be put in place to give the sector certainty. This will, of course, have a financial effect as to what rate local authorities then need to reimburse charities for the time that their workers are spending on delivering various contracts for them.
