Stamp Duty Land Tax
The 3% surcharge applying to second properties has been extended and is now 5%, for all purchases from 31st October 2024.

Inherited pensions will be brought into inheritance tax from April'27.
From April'26, for combined business and agricultural assets over £1m, IHT will apply with 50% relief, at an effective rate of 20%.
From 1 Jan 2025, VAT at 20% will apply to all education, training and boarding services provided by private schools.
This money will help the government to invest more in state education, improving standards and opportunities for all.

Working people are the lifeblood of our economy.
That is why the government will not increase the basic, higher or additional rates of Income Tax, National Insurance, or VAT.
This is a budget to protect working people.
NI, VAT and income tax for working people will not increase.
National Insurance contributions by employers will rise from 13.8% to 15%.
The threshold at which businesses start paying National Insurance on a workers' earnings will be lowered from £9,100 to £5,000.
