New Guidance launched to help boards appoint trustees
New guidance has been issued by the Chartered Governance Institute on the role of lead charity trustees.
It has been designed to reiterate the importance of the collective responsibility of charity trustees, and highlight some of the key issues to be considered by charities when recruiting a new trustee. The guidance also provides a job description of the lead trustee role, to assist charities in this area.
The charity sector has seen ‘increasing calls’ for individual trustees to be appointed to lead on specific charity activities such as safeguarding, staff welfare, digital presence or fundraising.
